Language: Do you like or dislike it?

Hi everyone,
Since this course is about to over, it's important to finish with a reflection about it. For this, we would like you watch this video, an interesting video related to grammar- teaching.

Here we brought you some questions to reflect...
Why do you think that most of people don't find interesting words or language these days?
Why people find "pedant" that people use the language properly?
Is it important to have a good language? Why?
Do you agree that it's all about context, convention and circumstances?
Is it grammar/language teachers' fault? How can we change this reality as future teachers?

We hope you like this blog, that it has been helpful for you through the course.

How is your journey going so far?

Dearest people of PUCV
At this point in time you have done all sorts of teachery things, such as plan activities and teach a university level English level class. Give yourself a pat on the shoulder for getting this far on the program.
We’d like to hear all about your adventures!

Tell us how you felt before you started the teaching assistant project. Did you have any preconceptions or apprehensions?

How did thins actually go? Any particular epic moments you’d like to share?
And how do you feel now when you look back? Would you do anything different? Did you learn something new about yourself as a teacher?

We hope to hear from you soon.

Love, Merry and Pippin (We’ll have a pint for you)

One Book to Rule them All…is that a good thing?

Hello everyone! Thought we’d check in and see how you’re doing so far.
The first big task you had as group was “building a wheel”. To do this, each group member contributed to the task, in order to make the best possible wheel, taking into account the materials and time you had available. What did you learn about yourself and your role within the group? For example, we (Merry and Pippin) are the brave, funny, handsome ones of the bunch.
Also, right about now you should be analyzing a course book. How is that going?
A course book can be quite useful. It´s almost like a map that helps students get from point A to point B. But what if the book is not the right “map” for the journey that you and your students are on?
We´d like to read about how you feel about course books and how they should be used (or if they should at all)

Have a good day today and do something amazing! (like commenting on this post for example)

Second Welcome

Hello and Welcome! We are Merry and Pippin, your blog moderators. We´ll be popping in and out to check how the blog is going and ask some questions to help you get all “inspired” for a new entry.
In the mean time we have a message from Mrs. Fonseca herself:
“Intro Unit: Beyond Materials…

Hello everyone! I would love to hear your first impressions on our first assignment: pros and cons of procedure for selecting text, working on the posters during your classroom time, the poster presentation procedure. Suggestions and ideas to make the porter presentation more efficient and engaging are WELCOME!”

Have a nice first entry!

WELCOME

Ok, maybe one does simply create an EFL task. But the real problems come up when attempting to have group of teenagers actually DO the task. You might notice that the students are not engaged, or maybe the task is way too easy for them and they have completed it in half the time you thought they would.
Come what may, you are not alone. You have this blog (and the rest of your Analysis group).
Please use this blog to ask questions, reflect on your experience and enlighten other people about your wonderful teaching secrets (don’t be selfish).

Have fun!
